The Truest Family

The City of Bones and chocolate chip cookies;

Cornhole and fond smiles.

80’s music and dancing like fools who don’t care;

Laughter and small children.

You and me and coffee rum and soft firelight;

The truest family.

Competitiveness and jokes and fake rivalry;

Acceptance and real love.

The first shared smile is one I’ll never forget;

This is love, unbiased.

I’ve had “love” from others before, but it was fake;

I know that this isn’t.
